Stealth roller coaster launching at Thorpe Park

Thorpe
Park

Chertsey, Surrey — 25 min from London Waterloo

Britain's self-proclaimed "Thrill Capital" doesn't do subtle. Thorpe Park is home to some of the UK's most extreme, stomach-dropping, white-knuckle machines ever built — the perfect day out for adrenaline junkies aged 12 and upwards who genuinely want to be terrified.

Stealth

0–80mph in 1.9 seconds. The UK's fastest roller coaster launches you skyward on a 62-metre vertical tower.

Saw — The Ride

Horror-themed coaster with a beyond-vertical drop. The world's first horror movie roller coaster, not for the faint-hearted.

Colossus

Ten inversions of relentless twisting madness — once the world record holder for the most loops on a coaster.

Nemesis Inferno

A suspended inverted coaster hurling riders through fiery loops above a volcanic landscape. Pure suspended chaos.

LEGOLAND
Windsor

Set across 150 acres of beautifully landscaped Berkshire countryside, LEGOLAND Windsor is Britain's definitive family theme park — home to more than 55 rides, live shows, and hands-on LEGO building experiences that fire up imaginations from age two to twelve and beyond.

"The ultimate family day out west of London."

With the arrival of LEGO Mythica — the park's most ambitious new world — alongside perennial classics like the Dragon roller coaster and the beloved Miniland Britain, there's never been a better time to visit. Whether you're shepherding toddlers through DUPLO Valley or racing teenagers to the newest drop ride, LEGOLAND delivers.

Dragon Roller Coaster

The park's flagship coaster weaves through a medieval castle before launching riders through loops and drops. Minimum height: 90 cm (with adult), 112 cm alone.

DUPLO Valley

Gentle rides, splash zones, and interactive play areas designed exclusively for toddlers and under-fives. No height requirements — pure joy for little ones.

LEGO Mythica

The brand-new world of mythical creatures — fly with winged beasts on the 4D experience Flight of the Sky Lion, LEGOLAND Windsor's most ambitious land yet.

Visitor Intelligence

Plan Your Day.
Not Your Regrets.

Four essential briefings from veteran park-goers — so you arrive prepared, not panicked.

Timing

Best Time to Visit

London's theme parks hit peak chaos during school holidays — half-terms in February, May, and October, plus the six-week summer break from late July. Your sweet spot? Mid-week visits in June or September. Queue times at Thorpe Park and LEGOLAND Windsor can drop by 40–60{11e96dcf60bd0ae6dc65d13e18a83a802a4b0a031aa82b4f7c65fb68df495b6f} outside holiday windows. Bonus: staff-to-guest ratios improve, rides are less likely to be under maintenance, and you'll actually get a decent look at the scenery.

Savings

How to Save on Tickets

Single-day gate prices at London parks can sting — Thorpe Park and LEGOLAND Windsor both breach £60 per adult at the door. If you're planning more than two visits across any Merlin Entertainments parks (that includes Alton Towers, Chessington, and Sea Life centres), the Merlin Annual Pass pays for itself remarkably fast. For one-off visits, Tesco Clubcard deals, Lastminute.com, and the parks' own 'book in advance' discounts routinely shave 30–50{11e96dcf60bd0ae6dc65d13e18a83a802a4b0a031aa82b4f7c65fb68df495b6f} off. Never pay gate price.

Transport

Getting There

Each park has its own travel puzzle. Thorpe Park (Staines) is best reached via South Western Railway from London Waterloo to Staines, then the seasonal shuttle bus. LEGOLAND Windsor sits just outside Windsor — Great Western Railway runs from Paddington to Windsor & Eton Central. Chessington World of Adventures is served directly by South Western Railway from London Waterloo to Chessington South. Warner Bros. Studio Tour is in Watford — take the Overground or London Midland from Euston to Watford, then the dedicated shuttle.

Packing

What to Pack

British weather is notoriously unpredictable — a waterproof jacket is non-negotiable even in July. Comfortable, well-worn trainers are essential; you'll cover 4–8 miles on a typical park day. Pack a small dry bag to protect phones and wallets on water rides — most parks charge £1–2 per locker cycle, so plan which rides you'll hit back-to-back to minimise locker fees. A reusable water bottle saves a fortune; refill stations are available at all major parks. Sunscreen, a portable charger, and a few snacks (where permitted) round out a smart day bag.

Tips updated for the 2025 season. Park policies and transport links may vary — always verify with the official park websites before your visit.
